RALEIGH - At the Raleigh Spy Conference last week, Naval Criminal Investigative Service special agent Ron Olive spoke about how his team solved the strange spy case involving Jonathan Jay Pollard, who literally passed truckloads of U.S. secrets to Israel in the 1980's. Olive, who wrote a book in 2006 about the fascinating case entitled "Capturing Jonathan Pollard," went over in fascinating detail how the Pollard case began and how his investigative group caught him in the act. The annual Spy Conference is held at the NC Museum of History in Raleigh. In his presentation, Olive said that other workers thought that Pollard exhibited strange behavior when he started working for the United States government at the Naval Fields Operational Intelligence Office and was viewed as an oddball.According to Olive, when applying for the job, Pollard lied about his masters degree, lied about being able to speak 16 different languages, lied about not contacting foreign agents, and lied about his extensive drug use.
